WEST PALM BEACH, FL — Today, Lois Frankel announced the endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign, a national LGBT advocacy organization with over 1 million members and supporters nationwide.
“Lois Frankel is a proven leader who will be an amazing advocate for equality in Congress,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “Her legislative record and community involvement show she will stand up for all Americans and ensure that all of her constituents are accepted and welcomed as part of the American family.”
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Human Rights Campaign, a group that has fought for equal rights for millions of Americans for over 30 years,” said Frankel. “I have worked toward equal rights for LGBT Americans for my whole career in public service, and I will proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with the Human Rights Campaign in Congress.”
Lois Frankel has long been a champion for equal rights for all Americans. As a state legislator, Frankel passed the first comprehensive HIV/AIDS legislation, which ranked as one of the country’s most ambitious legislative efforts concerning HIV/AIDS. That legislation prohibited discrimination against HIV carriers and provided for a wide ranging array of strategies aimed at the prevention of the disease.
As the mayor of West Palm Beach, Frankel stood up to make sure that members of the LGBT community in West Palm Beach would always have the same rights as everyone else. She implemented same sex health care benefits and a domestic partner registry ordinance.
