Lois Frankel believes that access to good quality affordable health care is essential for all Americans.
The current law has deeply needed provisions, including covering those with pre-existing conditions and providing coverage to young people and reducing cost. No one can lose their coverage because of an illness and insurance companies can no longer place restrictive annual limits or a lifetime limit on coverage.
The new law helps seniors by reducing prescription drug costs, closing the Medicare Part D ‘donut hole’ coverage gap, providing free annual wellness visits and key preventive services, and ensuring they have the ability to access home- and community-based care through Medicaid with the Community First Choice Option.
The current law promotes women’s preventive health care. Such services as mammograms, screenings for cervical cancer, prenatal care are covered with no cost sharing for new health plans.
Lois will work to keep these important provisions in law and improve current reform.
